Lori Lee Patton has over 18 years experience giving private music lessons. For the first 12 years, she taught piano and voice at several music stores in Los Angeles, gaining valuable experience with students of all ages and ability levels. For the next several years, she gave private music lessons in students' homes, maintaining a roster of 24 pupils. During the last few years, Lori Lee has transitioned to online piano lessons to meet the demand caused by the global pandemic.
In addition to Lori Lee's busy teaching schedule, she has worked professionally as a church musician since 2013. She has provided a variety of music services to various churches, including as a pianist, vocal soloist, and soprano section leader in choirs. She specializes in planning and performing traditional hymns and sacred repertoire.
Prior to teaching piano, Lori Lee earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a double major in Advertising Management and Marketing from Portland State University in Oregon. She graduated with high honors and was recognized by the faculty for her academic scholarship. President Bill Clinton gave the commencement address at her graduation ceremony.
Lori Lee's musical experience goes well beyond her extensive teaching career, however. She was a successful child performer on stage and screen. She sang for former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley at an official event celebrating the 1984 Olympics. She also performed at the opening ceremony of the musical A Day in Hollywood/ A Night in the Ukraine. Lori Lee was also a dancer in multiple episodes of Disney's Mousercise and appeared in numerous television shows and movies, including Highway to Heaven and Mr. Belvedere. As a child, she earned enough professional credits to join the performers' union AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists).
Lori Lee's own music education began when she was just five years old. She was raised in a musical home where her grandmother taught seven instruments! Lori Lee studied piano, organ, guitar, and violin. She also took voice lessons for many years from several well-known Hollywood instructors, including Suzanne Kiechle. She studied numerous dance styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, and western clogging. She attained advanced proficiency in both tap and ballet and studied privately with master teachers Pat Rico, Madilyn Clark, and Dorothy Vose. Lori Lee was identified as gifted and talented by the Los Angeles Unified School District and was featured in school music and drama programs, as well.
